Round bluey-green aquamarine beads are spaced between big nuggety chips of fluorite in all its greeny-pinky-bluey colours. The aquamarine has a shimmering depth to it and, like emerald, is part of the beryl family. I love this stone, in all its guises, from the the crystal clear sky blue to this lovely blue-green with its mysterious cloudy markings. Legend has it that it was first found in the treasure chests of mermaids! Here I've put it with fluorite which brought to mind the sea lavenders (a form of statice which can be dried for winter bouquets) that grow so well in our sandy Suffolk soils and salt marshes.The necklace is 16" long (406mm) and finished with sterling silver and a twisted sterling silver toggle clasp.
