I hated the thought of the travel series. All those joints adding weight to the fly rod and ruining the action.So what if a fly rod tube looks like a missile launcher, surely the stewardess will understand. So anyway… like a good soldier I did what I was told. I took the wonderful tapers that we used to make our guide series. I pleaded with my composite engineer to make it out of IM8 graphite. I measured my over head luggage and brief cases, as it could not be a travel rod if you could not board the plane with it. And in the end I came up with 7 piece construction.When it was done and ready for field testing, again like a good soldier I fished it hard. In the end I had caught my biggest steelhead ever and the prototypes all vanished like thin air. Some of the rods were gone on a trophy bonefish expedition another went to a world traveler and so on.The truth is you can not tell they are seven piece rods. The IM8 graphite and titanium eyes made the rods light, the fabulous tapers from our Guide Series made the rods excellent to cast and the seven piece construction made the rods easily stowable. In fact, I lost the first one in my pick up truck. How can any one lose a 9'0", 8wt rod in a pick up truck? All rods are 9' long and will come with a sock and tube
